BBC 1Xtra’s UK Touchdown Tour returns with up-and-coming artists
BBC 1Xtra’s UK Touchdown Tour with DJ Target is set to return showcasing up-and-coming artists.
It gives them a chance to have their music played on DJ Target’s show, and Theo Johnson’s ‘BBC Introducing’ show on 1Xtra.
Throughout March, Target’s show (Monday-Thursday, 7-9PM) will reflect the music scene across 16 UK cities with local talent and exploring each region’s unique sound. 1Xtra’s UK Touchdown Tour is in partnership with BBC Introducing and supported by PRS, PPL & AIM.
This year, Target will be hosting live showcase events in Birmingham on Saturday 16 March, Manchester on Saturday 23 March and Liverpool on Saturday 30 March. Headline acts for each event will be announced soon.
A live recording of 1Xtra Talks with Richie Brave will take place in each city hosting the live showcase events.
DJ Target says: “I’m really looking forward to this year’s Touchdown Tour. Not only are we able to connect with and support new artists from focussed areas around the UK but this year we have the Live showcases in some of the key cities which is super exciting.”
Faron McKenzie, Head of 1Xtra adds: “The UK has exceptional musical talent, and the 1Xtra’s UK Touchdown Tour is dedicated to supporting and showcasing the music scene’s rising trailblazers.
“We’re passionate about giving our listeners a chance to hear fresh voices across various communities in the UK, introducing them to incredible artists whose music deserves a spotlight, regardless of where they are in their career.”
There will be spaces for three ‘BBC Introducing’ artists to perform at each showcase alongside one of the headline acts. For more details on how to upload your music to be considered for the showcase, visit: bbc.co.uk/touchdowntour
