BBC Radio Leeds signs new two year deal with Leeds United
BBC Radio Leeds has signed a new two-year commentary deal with Leeds United FC.
The deal, which starts at the end of the current season, means the station will be able to provide full exclusive radio commentary of all games, home and away, until the end of the 2021 season.
Adam Pope will continue to lead the commentary team for BBC Radio Leeds at all Leeds United games and he will be joined by regular summariser Noel Whelan.
Sanjiv Buttoo, Editor of BBC Radio Leeds, told RadioToday: “BBC Radio Leeds has had a long relationship with Leeds United and I am delighted that the excellent relationship we enjoy with the club will continue for another two years as they close in on automatic promotion.”
BBC Radio Leeds Sports Editor Jonathan Buchan, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to continue our unrivalled coverage of The Whites for the next two years, hopefully in the Premier League – or as Noel would say ‘Get In!’”
Angus Kinnear, Chief Executive of Leeds United FC, said “Radio Leeds is important to the local community and therefore it is an absolute pleasure to announce a further two year extension to our commentary agreement. The team at the BBC have a great relationship with the staff and supporters of Leeds United and long may that continue as we move forward into what could be an exciting couple of years.”
