Ernest Kingsley Jr says Spiderman would be his ultimate dream role

Rising star Ernest Kingsley Jr has revealed on Capital XTRA that if he could pick any dream role, it would be stepping into the famous suit of Spiderman.

The Sandman and Washington Black actor made the admission while chatting with Manny Norte on Capital XTRA Breakfast this morning, joined by his co-star Sterling K Brown. Manny was sitting in for Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie on the show.

Talking about his latest project Washington Black, Ernest explained he doesn’t usually focus on chasing one dream role but is drawn to characters with deep stories and big journeys.

“I don’t have a dream in mind. I think I just have things that I’m passionate about, any characters that have a, like, awesome journey, story. This was a dream role in terms of the expansion. I’m not even just saying that man!” he said.

Manny Norte praised him immediately: “Oh, he’s good. He’s good. He’s going to be here for a long time,” with Sterling K Brown adding a simple but solid “Great.”

However, pressed for a childhood wish, Ernest didn’t hesitate to admit: “If we’re going really, really… like, a dream that I had when I was a child, maybe like Spiderman or something.” Manny responded: “Okay, there you go.”

The young actor left listeners in no doubt that, dream or not, he is determined to play characters he believes in, and with Manny’s vote of confidence, fans will be watching to see if Spiderman really does swing his way one day.

Tune into Capital XTRA Breakfast with Robert Bruce & Shayna Marie weekdays from 6:30am-10:00am.
