Radio 2’s Claudia Winkleman reveals who will see in New Year on BBC One

On her BBC Radio 2 show this morning, Claudia Winkleman revealed who will be taking viewers into 2024 on BBC One.

Claudia announced that its Rick Astley who will rock us into the new year at New Year’s Eve Rocks.

Following his triumphant set on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury and then at Radio 2 In The Park in Leicester, the pop legend will build the audience excitement to mark the end of what has been an interesting 2023 before ‘Rick-Rolling’ us into 2024.

Rick said: “What an honour it is to host the New Year’s Eve celebration on BBC One this year! It’s always been part of my New Year’s ritual to watch the show and take in the amazing fireworks, so to be part of it this year is fantastic! Here’s to a great night.”

The special guests joining Rick on stage at the event will be announced in due course.

Rick follows on from Sam Ryder, who brought in 2023 at last year’s event. Previous New Year’s Rocks acts include Years & Years, Alicia Keys and Craig David.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Tuesday 14 November from Ticketmaster, priced at £35 plus booking fee. Minimum age 18 years.
