Angela Scanlon reveals launch date for new Radio 2 afternoon show

Angela Scanlon will take over weekday afternoons on BBC Radio 2 from Monday 16 November, broadcasting live between 4pm and 7pm.

The new show will provide the soundtrack to listeners’ journeys home, combining music, conversation and stories from across the UK.

Regular features will include All Request Friday, when Angela will invite audiences to share their favourite songs, dedications and personal stories to celebrate the end of the working week.

Angela is looking forward to starting her new afternoon role and has already been counting down to her first broadcast.

She said: “I’ve been counting down to this one. From 4pm on Monday 16 November, when the day finally exhales, it’s you, me and whoever else is lurking in your car, train or kitchen.

“So whatever kind of day you’ve had, bring it with you: the rants, the wins and the dinner disasters. I’m here for all of it.”

The programme will also feature regular travel updates from Kirsten O’Brien and Bobbie Pryor, keeping listeners informed about their journeys home.

Alongside the music and conversations, the show will include the latest news and sport throughout the three-hour broadcast.

Angela’s new programme will air every weekday from 4pm to 7pm on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, starting on Monday 16 November.
