U2 to perform exclusive BBC concert featuring new album tracks

U2 will perform an exclusive concert for BBC Music in November, with fans set to hear songs from their back catalogue and new music from their upcoming album.

The announcement was made by Jo Whiley on her BBC Radio 2 show, with the 22-time Grammy Award-winning band set to perform in front of a select audience of fans in central London on Tuesday 3 November.

The concert will feature tracks from across U2’s extensive catalogue alongside new songs from their forthcoming studio album, Carnaval De Luz.

A limited number of tickets are available through a BBC Audiences ballot, which closes at midnight on Thursday 29 October. The venue’s location will be revealed to successful ticket holders on the day of the performance.

Jo Whiley said: “Every time I see U2 perform, they’re always incredible, giving 100% to each and every show. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us, and to share what I know will be a fantastic concert with listeners.”

The concert will form part of a wider celebration of the band across BBC platforms, with the performance scheduled to air on BBC Two in late November as part of a dedicated night of U2 programming.

BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds will broadcast the concert on Monday 30 November, from 7pm to 9pm, within Jo Whiley’s show. The programme will also include a new interview with members of the band.

Listeners will be able to catch up with the programmes on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds after their initial broadcasts.

U2 will also appear on Vernon Kay’s Radio 2 show for Tracks of My Years, selecting ten songs that have soundtracked their lives and careers.

The episode will be available on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer from 6am on Sunday 15 November, before being broadcast during the week commencing Monday 16 November as part of Vernon’s show.

The Tracks of My Years programme will also be shown on BBC Two on the same night as the concert broadcast, giving audiences another opportunity to hear the band discuss the music that has shaped their lives and careers.
