Katherine Ryan jokes she is not ready for Strictly Come Dancing

Katherine Ryan has joked she is not ready to cheat on her husband yet, explaining why Strictly Come Dancing is off the cards for now.

The comedian joined Will Manning, who’s covering Capital Breakfast, to discuss her new book First Born Daughter, family life and the reality TV shows she might consider in the future.

Talking about the programmes she would be willing to take part in, Katherine explained that some opportunities were not right for her at this stage of her life.

She told Will: “There are things that I feel are not appropriate for me at this stage of my life. So, I’m not able to go into a jungle.”

When Will suggested Strictly Come Dancing, Katherine admitted that the time commitment was a concern but revealed another reason she was not ready to take part.

She said: “It’s too much work! And I’m not ready to cheat on my husband, you know?”

Will laughed at the confession before suggesting there might be a time in the future when she would be ready to sign up for the BBC dance competition.

Katherine agreed with his suggestion, joking that when viewers eventually see her on the show, they will know what is happening.

Laughing, she added: “She’s on the pull!”

Katherine also spoke about a West End musical she had hoped to join, revealing that she had auditioned for Beetlejuice but had not secured a role.

Will brought up the subject after a listener asked about the musical Katherine had previously mentioned, prompting her to explain what had happened.

She said: “I’d hoped to be in the musical on the West End, Beetlejuice, but it wasn’t meant to be and there are no hard feelings, I’ve seen the show and it’s fantastic.”

Despite missing out on the opportunity, Katherine made clear that she had no hard feelings about the outcome and had enjoyed seeing the production.

Listen to Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby weekdays from 6am – 10am across the UK and on YouTube.
