Radio 1’s Live Lounge Month is returning for September
Lil Nas X, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes and Bring Me The Horizon are among those set to perform in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge when it returns next month.
Live Lounge Month kicks off on Monday 6 September as Radio 1’s new schedule comes into effect, with Rickie, Melvin and Charlie taking on the Live Lounge (Monday-Thursdays, 10.30am-1pm).
There will be a bonus performance from BTS on the first day of Live Lounge Month, with an unseen track from their debut Live Lounge earlier this year.
New performances will follow every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month, with each artist performing a mix of their own songs and surprise covers.
The line-up is: Bring Me The Horizon, Camila Cabello, Lil Nas X, Little Simz, Mimi Webb, Rag’n‘Bone Man and Shawn Mendes.
Rickie, Melvin and Charlie say: “We’re so excited that Live Lounge Month is just around the corner. Its felt like waiting for your birthday to come around when you’re a kid!
“With the show having three hosts for the first time we’re bringing a fresh take so expect us to go IN from the offset, no messing around – it’s gonna be BIG!
“We’re really looking forward to seeing some new twists from the amazing artists we have lined up – wherever you are, it’s all about you, your favourite artists and us three getting you guys as close to them as possible.”
Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, says: “This September we’ll be bringing music fans even closer to their favourite artists, with an entire month dedicated to the creative and intimate live performances that the Live Lounge is renowned for. This year’s Live Lounge Month is extra special, with Rickie, Melvin and Charlie at the helm for the first time, and we know our listeners are going to love it.”
All performances from Live Lounge Month can be heard on Radio 1 and BBC Sounds every Tuesday and Thursday from the new time of 11am from Monday 6 September, and will be available to watch on demand on Radio 1’s BBC iPlayer and YouTube channels.
