Rupert Grint tells Chris Evans new horror film almost too much
Harry Potter star Rupert Grint admitted on Virgin Radio earlier, his new horror film was almost too scary for him.
Speaking on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show about Knock At The Cabin, Rupert said: “It is brutal and there’s a lot to unpick with it, a lot going on. I do love the [horror] genre but this particularly is quite triggering for me. Home invasion is something I really hate and apocalypse, so it puts those two things together.”
The film, which also stars Dave Bautista and Ben Aldridge, follows a family on holiday at a remote cabin, but they are soon taken hostage by a group of strangers who demand they make a difficult choice to avoid starting the apocalypse. Rupert is one of the invaders who captures the family.
Guardians of the Galaxy star Bautista, who left professional wrestling to pursue a career in acting, also stars in the film. Discussing his co-star, Rupert explained: “When you meet him, he’s this huge figure, he’s so sweet. It’s a cliche but he’s a true gentle giant. This role is really challenging, it’s a really hard one to pitch, but he’s perfect.
“There’s a lot we have in common in a way, which you wouldn’t expect. Coming from big institutions that kind of define us and finding a way out of it, we definitely share that, but I think he’s amazing, he’s going to keep on soaring.”
Following on from the massive success of the Harry Potter franchise as a child actor, Rupert has worked on keeping his career on a steady path and he’s happy to keep it that way.
“I’m kind of enjoying life now. It’s been great,” the actor said. “I became a dad a few years ago. Since then, that’s kind of all I want to do really, it’s just be with her.
“I still love my work, but your priorities change I think, and I love what I’m doing at the moment. I mean, I probably need to do a Christmas movie or something.”
Knock at the Cabin is in cinemas from Friday 3 February.
