Trevor Nelson will return to BBC Radio 2 on Monday after taking a break from his work commitments earlier this year.
The presenter will be back in his afternoon slot from 2pm to 4pm, before returning to his BBC Radio 1Xtra show on Sunday 13 September at 11am.
Trevor announced in June that he would be taking time away from work, and told followers last month that he had undergone surgery for a brain tumour and was recovering.
Confirming his return, Trevor said: “I will be slowly easing my way back on to the airwaves from Monday on Radio 2 and next Sunday on 1Xtra. I look forward to being with you all then.”
The news was revealed during Sara Cox’s Breakfast Show this morning, with Trevor making a surprise appearance in a recorded message.
He said: “Oh hi Sara Cox…. Have I missed anything? Now where were we before I was rudely interrupted?”
Trevor continued: “It’s been a minute, I know… but over the next few weeks I’m getting back to where I belong… In the Radio 2 studio, behind the microphone and spinning some records!”
He added: “It’s so good to be home and I’d be delighted if you could join me Monday afternoon from 2.”
Trevor will make a staggered return to Radio 2, initially presenting for two days next week on Monday 7 and Wednesday 9 September.
He will then present three days the following week, on Monday 14, Wednesday 16 and Friday 18 September, followed by four days during the week beginning Monday 21 September.
His final week of the staggered return will see him present on Monday 21, Tuesday 22, Thursday 24 and Friday 25 September, before returning to the airwaves full time from Monday 28 September.
DJ Spoony, who has primarily covered Trevor’s afternoon programme during his absence, will continue to deputise on Tuesday 8 and Friday 11 September.
Clara Amfo will also cover the programme on Thursday 10, Tuesday 15, Thursday 17 and Wednesday 23 September.
Sara Cox responded to Trevor’s message by saying: “We love you so much!”
