An internet based local radio station for the Vale of York has helped to raise £10k in just three hours.
On Friday 14th of November, Vale Radio hosted an evening for Blake’s Genes, a local charity raising money for the MPS Society, that conduct research into Mucopolysaccharide and related diseases.
Chris Marsden and Dougie Weake hosted a three hour auction and raffle of local prize givers to a packed crowd.
Vale Radio’s Dougie Weake told RadioToday: “This is what we are all about, being local and touching people’s hearts and minds and going up against BBC Children in Need was a tough challenge, as that had been in people’s minds all day, but we managed to do it.”
Vale Radio launched on the 18th of August on the internet only. Chris Marsden, breakfast presenter and director said: “I didn’t expect to raise this much. Maybe around £1,000…but this is just amazing! We are proud to be all about the Vale of York and giving back to the local area what the community have wanted all these years….community spirit!”
