ViLoR to be showcased at Radio Academy event
A Radio Academy event in Ipswich next month will include a demo of the BBC’s new Virtual Local Radio system and a tour of BBC Radio Suffolk.
Radio Suffolk went live with the new technology on 10th September and is one of four stations in the East of England taking part in the pilot, which sees equipment and infrastructure moved to a central location rather than being physically based in the studio. BBC Radio Northampton, BBC Essex and BBC Three Counties Radio are also taking part in the trial in the Eastern region.

The Radio Academy East Anglia Branch event taking place in Ipswich on 23rd October will be hosted by ViLoR trainer and developer Joe Pignatiello and features a Q&A with the man behind the system, Geoff Woolf. The BBC’s Head of Regional and Local Programmes for the East, Mick Rawsthorne, will be on the panel too – and there’ll also be a demo of ViLoR and a tour of the Radio Suffolk studios.
The event is free for Radio Academy members (if you work at a Ofcom-licensed radio station, chances are you’re a member already!). Click here for more details and to book a place.
