Chris O’Dowd reveals parenting prank during Radio X appearance

Chris O’Dowd brought his trademark humour to The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, sharing a surprising parenting prank that left the studio laughing.

The actor and comedian joined Chris Moyles and the team this morning, where the conversation quickly turned to some of his past jokes at home, including a long-running idea involving his young son.

O’Dowd revealed he once planned an elaborate prank designed to make his child question his own family history, by staging photos with strangers and hiding them among family pictures.

He said: “When he was like two or three, I’d take a photo of him sitting with another family and then hide it behind other photos. So maybe when he finds them later, he’ll think he came from a different family.”

The idea prompted laughter in the studio, with O’Dowd describing it as a “long-form joke” that would only work if he kept quiet about it.

The interview also touched on other light-hearted moments from his personal life, including a mix-up involving his wife’s driving licence details.

O’Dowd admitted he may have accidentally entered incorrect information while filling out the form, joking that he had mistakenly added his own weight instead.

He said: “I think I might have made her 15 stone. Mostly accidental. Mostly. I think I put my own weight.”
