Ronan Keating returns to Magic Radio to discuss Boyzone reunion
Ronan Keating returned to Magic Radio this morning, but as a guest this time.
After seven years co-hosting the Magic Radio Breakfast Show with Harriet Scott, Ronan was back in the studio alongside Boyzone bandmates Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch.
They were there to talk about the band’s upcoming tour and renewed appetite for performing together on stage.
Speaking to Harriet Scott and her co-host Harry Judd, the trio reflected on how public reaction to Boyzone’s Sky documentary, No Matter What, helped shape the decision to reunite, with Ronan revealing an unexpected message from Ed Sheeran that proved especially influential.
Ronan explained that Sheeran contacted him after watching the documentary earlier this year, sharing his thoughts on the band’s legacy and the emotional connection fans still have with their music.
“He said, ‘These are the people’s songs, you’ve got to give these songs back to people again,’” Ronan told the hosts, describing the message as both surprising and powerful given Sheeran’s own standing as one of the world’s most successful songwriters.
Ronan added that the comment stayed with him and became part of the motivation behind pushing forward with large-scale live shows, saying, “It was such a strong comment for him to make to me, that it was part of the catalyst to push for the stadium shows,” as the band weighed whether the timing felt right.
