Perrie returned to BBC Radio 2 with a Piano Room performance along with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
The former Little Mix star joined Vernon Kay at the BBC’s Maida Vale studios in a session that was recorded a few weeks ago.
During her performance, Perrie sang Forget About Us from her newly released debut solo album Perrie, delivered a seasonal moment with her Christmas track Christmas Magic, and surprised listeners with a stripped back cover of Jon Bon Jovi’s Always.
Alongside the music, Perrie also spoke to Vernon Kay about appearing in BBC Two’s new Girlbands Forever documentary, which follows on from the success of Boybands Forever.
Reflecting on opening up about her own story, she said: “I just love the insight to it all, and I love how open and honest I got to be on the documentary. I was just telling my truth and my story really, and it was nice to have the space to do that.”
She also shared her thoughts on starting out in a group rather than as a solo artist, explaining why Little Mix played such an important role in her early career.
“Part of me would say yes to young people being in a band because it takes the pressure off a lot. I’m glad I started out in a group instead of solo,” she said.
Perrie also discussed her recent collaboration with Ed Sheeran, who co-wrote Forget About Us with her after she launched her solo career.
She revealed that the song went through dozens of production changes before landing on its final sound, as she worked to make it feel more like her and less like a traditional Ed Sheeran track.
The conversation touched on her time in the Little Mix writing room and the confidence shift that came with going solo.
Perrie admitted she initially struggled with imposter syndrome as a songwriter and felt unfulfilled singing material she had not written herself.
Stepping back from the pressure, she found her creativity returned with renewed purpose, helping shape what she now describes as a very personal debut album.
Perrie’s appearance on Radio 2’s Piano Room adds another high-profile moment to an already busy year, balancing new music, television appearances, and reflections on her journey from global pop group member to independent solo artist.
