Long time journalist Rod Liddle to host Times Radio Saturday show

Times Radio has hired journalist, broadcaster, and Sunday Times columnist Rod Liddle as the new host of its Saturday morning show.

A long-standing columnist for The Sunday Times, as well a writer for The Sun and associate editor of The Spectator, Liddle has is known for his forthright opinions and incisive writing. His new weekly Times Radio show will reflect this as he discusses big topics of the week with leading voices from politics, culture, and beyond.

Liddle has decades of journalism experience and began his career at the South Wales Echo. In 1983 he became a speechwriter for the Labour Party front bench, then in opposition. In 1988 he joined the BBC Today programme, later becoming its editor for five years.

He is also a successful author and has made TV documentaries for Channel 4 and BBC Two, as well as a series for BBC Radio 4 on the relationships between wild animals and humans. He is also a regular commentator and guest on Question Time, Have I Got News for You, The Wright Stuff, Newsnight, Daily Politics and others.

Rod Liddle said: “I am thrilled, honoured and slightly terrified to be joining Times Radio as a weekly presenter. I hope that my programme might bring together fractured communities and spread peace and goodwill among people who hate each other.”
