Capital XTRA Breakfast brought carnival energy to central London this morning with a special live broadcast from its own Carnival Float in Leicester Square.
Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie hosted the show from the Capital XTRA float, with the pair highlighting the unusual setup as they prepared to broadcast from the heart of London.
Shayna Marie said: “This is so exciting! There is a float downstairs in Leicester Square, like a carnival float.”
Robert Bruce added: “Oh my goodness. This might possibly be the first float on the road this carnival.”
The breakfast presenters then revealed that a surprise guest was waiting upstairs on the float, with Shayna discovering Big Narstie as she climbed the ladder.
She told listeners: “Upstairs on the Capital XTRA carnival float, it’s Big Narstie!”
Big Narstie then performed live from the Capital XTRA Carnival Float, followed by a performance from Jamaican dancehall artist Konshens.
The broadcast also featured Love Island’s Dejon Noel-Williams, along with dancers and other guests who joined the presenters to take in the carnival atmosphere around the Leicester Square broadcast.
The special outside broadcast brought Capital XTRA Breakfast directly into the centre of London, with live music and entertainment forming part of the station’s Carnival celebrations.
