Kiefer Sutherland tells Radio X he wants to run for Mayor of Skegness

Kiefer Sutherland joined The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X this morning and had a tongue in cheek exchange following the launch of his new whiskey brand in the UK.

In the conversation with Chris, the Hollywood A-lister sensationally announced that he wants to run to be the Mayor of Skegness!

The pair were talking about Kiefer returning home soon and Chris suggested he might want to stay because he loves London.

“I do. I do,” Keifer responded. “Actually, it was very funny. When we were doing the last season of 24, Jon Cassar and I had dinner at the very end of that season, and we were shooting here in London.

“I looked at him and I said, ‘this is such a drag. This is the only location that I’ve ever been at in 30 years that I’m going to be sad leaving.’ And he said, ‘me too.’ And it’s true. It’s an incredibly special city. The traffic is awful. Terrible, the weather’s not great. But the people are awesome.”

Chris said that it’s not just London, because when people come over to the UK, they also visit the major cities. He added that Kiefer has been around and even knows where Cleethorpes is.

The actor answered: “Most people don’t know this, but I’m actually running for Mayor for Skegness.”

Chris then said: “I just love the idea that people will be absolutely astonished that Kiefer Sutherland’s just gone – ‘Kiefer knows Skegness?!’” Skegness! There are people in London who don’t know Skegness.”

Kiefer revealed he has friends in the town and added: “There’s an Indian restaurant there that is underestimated, and I’ve got some friends that play music who are extraordinary from there.”
