Surprise for Roman Kemp hosting show from Arsenal’s dressing room

Roman Kemp had a surprise this morning when he hosted his penultimate Capital Breakfast show from the dressing room of his beloved Arsenal football club.

In a jam-packed and emotional show, Roman struggled to hold back the tears when he realised the show was being broadcast live from the hallowed turf of the Emirates, on the day before leaving the station.

Doing his best to ramp up the emotion, Chris Stark even serenaded Roman on the guitar with his own personalised rendition of Arsenal terrace favourite ‘The Angel (North London Forever).’

There was also a chance for Roman to take a penalty on the Emirates pitch if he got the answers to a quiz about club correct, but if he didn’t, it would be Sian Welby taking the penalty instead.

Roman was then gutted, as he missed out on his childhood dream of taking a penalty on the pitch, losing out to Sian, who took the penalty, with a gutted Roman looking on.

At the end of the show, Roman said he could hardly believe the team had presented it live from Arsenal’s home ground. He sent out massive thanks to everyone who helped to make it happen, jokingly adding: “because selfishly, it is all for me!!”

Roman then went on to say: “Tomorrow, it’s the big one. It’s my final show after being on Capital for 10 years – It’s my last one! And a lot of you guys are asking me, people have been saying to me, ‘what are you going to do on the show? What’s it going to look like? How should we plan this out?’ And if I’m totally honest, I just want it to be as normal as possible.”
