Did Mel B hint at new Spice Girls music when appearing on Hits Radio?
Mel B joined the Hits Radio Breakfast Show team for a chat about her book Brutally Honest, Glastonbury and possible new music from the Spice Girls.
Chatting to Angellica Bell, James and Matt she revealed that she had thought her career was over after her biography, which detailed the abusive relationship she’d left, was released.
When the book came out in 2017, Mel thought that because she spoke about a topic that no one was talking about, it was a big risk.
“If it hadn’t been for my daughter Phoenix, I don’t think I’d have bought it out because no one wanted to publish it,” she revealed. “No one wanted to talk about abuse, whether it be domestic violence, coercive abuse, financial abuse.
Thankfully, the publisher took a risk, but only ordered a few copies and it sold so well that they had to keep on reordering. Mel has since added an extra three chapters and updated it because, she says, it’s more of a conversation that can now be discussed.
With 2024 marking thirty years of the Spice Girls, the question about any special plans the five of them might have to mark the occasion had to be asked, and for those who think Glastonbury has been ruled out following the announcement of Shania Twain in the Legends slot think again…
“You don’t know that we’re not doing Glastonbury,” Mel teased. “I feel really old [talking about thirty years]. We are talking about doing something together – I can’t say what it is ‘cos I always get into trouble, loose lips sink ships and I’m not about to sink the ship!
“I’ve had the kibosh put on me this time round but my aim is to get us back in to the studio, that would be nice!”
