Tony Blackburn set to return to BBC Radio 2 this weekend
Tony Blackburn has been recovering from a chest infection for the last few weeks, but he’s fit and ready to get back where he belongs!
In a video tweet earlier, Tony said: “I’m delighted to say I’m making a speedy recovery and I’m going to be back on Saturday on Sounds of the 60s doing the show live and on the Golden Hour on Sunday.”
He added, with a little emotion in his voice: “I can’t wait to be back with you again.”
Tony thanked everyone who’d sent goodwill messages and said he’d been reading all of them.
Tony has been absent from BBC Radio 2 since mid-April when an infection he thought had cleared, returned.
He’s been keeping his Twitter followers up to date with his recovery and has received thousands of messages wishing him well.
Last Tuesday, at the ARIAS, Tony was honoured with the Pioneer Award for his broadcasting and contribution to the popularity of soul music in the UK.
Welcome back Tony – you’ve been missed!
At last I’m going to be back with you @BBCRadio2 this Saturday for Sounds of the Sixties “Live “. pic.twitter.com/TLspPgJjg2
