Gracie Abrams reflects on finding confidence on Capital Breakfast

Gracie Abrams has admitted she never felt she truly fit in during high school as she celebrated the release of her new album Daughter From Hell with Capital Breakfast.

The singer joined Jordan North for a “Very British Day Out” featuring a traditional chippy tea, where she opened up about finding confidence later in life and the fan tradition she hopes will continue despite her new hairstyle.

Speaking about her school years, Gracie revealed she struggled to find where she belonged socially.

“I didn’t really feel like socially I found my footing ever in high school,” she said. “I didn’t really feel that way until recently to be honest,” she said.

The conversation also included how the bows that have become a familiar sight at her concerts, with fans wearing them as a nod to the singer.

Gracie said spotting the bows while walking around cities before her shows has become one of her favourite experiences.

“Bows have been such a big part of our shows,” she said. “It is such a treat for us to be in any given city for a weekend of shows and walking around you just see them and you can identify who is coming to the show and that is so gorgeous.”

After recently cutting her hair much shorter, Gracie joked she can no longer wear a bow herself in quite the same way but hopes fans will keep the tradition alive.

“Since chopping my hair off, I’ve not really got the hair for a bow at the minute, but I am trying to supplement with other things,” she said. “I hope they stick with it!”
