Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Allen White join Scott Mills on Radio 2

Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Allen White are on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills tomorrow.
The exclusive UK radio interview comes ahead of the film Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.
The pair spoke to Scott about mental health, family, and the making of the film, which explores a key period in Springsteen’s life.
Bruce reflected on growing up in the 1950s and 60s, describing how depression and mental illness were never discussed and rarely treated.
“Nobody got any help whatsoever,” he said. “There was no medication, there were no interactions with any psychological help, and people were really simply left on their own.”
He explained how seeking therapy later in life was difficult because of stigma. “I was embarrassed. I used to disguise myself before going into the psychiatrist’s office,” Bruce admitted. “It took me years to feel confident about it, but now it’s a big part of my life.”
Bruce shared that watching the new film with his sisters was deeply emotional. “She held my hand the whole film,” he said. “It honours my family and the struggles we went through.”
He praised the film’s director Scott Cooper for the music choices and said he didn’t change a single track.
Jeremy Allen White, who plays Springsteen in the movie, spoke about the challenge of portraying him authentically.
“I had to find what I had in common with Bruce,” he told Scott. “It became about bringing up honest feelings and being in service of his story.”
Bruce said he knew Jeremy was right for the role after watching him in The Bear. “He had this complex inner life the camera could read,” Bruce explained. “That was essential to making the picture work.”
Jeremy also revealed he “stole” the remastered Nebraska album from Jimmy Kimmel’s desk during a recent US appearance, joking it now lives in Los Angeles.
