Amanda Holden to cycle over 250 miles for Global’s Make Some Noise
Heart Breakfast’s Amanda Holden will cycle 250 miles from Bude, Cornwall to London to raise funds for Global’s Make Some Noise.
In a similar challenge to Classic FM’s Dan Walker for the charity, ‘Amanda Holden’s Big Ride To Work’ will see Amanda Holden cycle from Bude to the Heart studios in Leicester Square over the course of five days, clocking up eight hours of cycling a day.
On Monday 7 October, she will begin her challenge in Cornwall, cycling through Somerset, Berkshire, Wiltshire and Surrey to get to Heart HQ on Friday 11 October – just in time for Global’s Make Some Noise Day.
Amanda is no stranger to tough challenges, having previously completed the Three Peaks Challenge, a 10,000 feet skydive and climbing to the top of Blackpool Tower for Global’s Make Some Noise. The latest challenge will be the farthest and longest she has ever cycled before!
Speaking about the challenge, Amanda said: “I can’t quite believe that I’m going to be cycling over 250 miles from my mum’s house in Cornwall to London for Global’s Make Some Noise – it’s a massive challenge!
“I’m told it’s not going to be particularly flat so I’m gonna have buns of steel by the end of this! Knowing that every mile I cover will help raise funds for those local projects providing a lifeline directly to those who need it most is what will keep me going. Plus, I’ll get the nicest Cornish sendoff from my mum with a big cuddle!
“I can’t wait to see how much we can raise for Global’s Make Some Noise; I know we’ll get incredible support from our amazing listeners. Their generosity truly means the world, and together we can help those projects that make such a difference in their communities.”
JK, who is sitting in for Jamie Theakston on Heart Breakfast said: “Amanda is taking on a massive challenge this year, all to raise money for the fantastic projects supported by Global’s Make Some Noise.
“I’ll be right here in the studio, cheering her on every step of the way! I’ll also be talking to people who have benefitted from the generosity of our amazing Heart listeners, showing how your donations can really help change lives!”
Suzanne Ryder-Richardson – Director, Global Goodness said: commented “We’re incredibly grateful to Amanda who once again is taking on a massive challenge to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise.
“Every single donation to Amanda’s challenge can help to provide a lifeline to those who need it most, in the heart of communities, perhaps even on your doorstep.
“Right now, millions of people across the UK are facing some of life’s toughest challenges including life-limiting diagnosis, grieving a loss, battling homelessness, or feeling isolated and alone. Donations have never been more crucial. Amanda we’re all cheering you on every pedal of the way!”
