Ant and Dec set world record with radio charity music quiz

Ant and Dec have made history after setting a Guinness World Records title for the world’s largest online music quiz, in a major live radio event supporting Cash for Kids.

The television duo hosted the record-breaking quiz across Bauer Media Audio’s network, bringing together thousands of players online while millions more tuned in across stations including Absolute Radio, Greatest Hits Radio, Hits Radio, Jazz FM, KISSTORY, Magic Radio, Kerrang! Radio, Planet Rock and Downtown Radio.

The event, powered by PopMaster, created a shared national moment as listeners tested their knowledge of chart hits, classic tracks and fan favourites, with a confirmed record number of simultaneous participants verified by official Guinness World Records adjudicators.

A wide range of presenters from across Bauer brands featured in the quiz, with rounds hosted by names including Gok Wan, Fleur East, Marvin Humes, Dave Berry, Simon Mayo and YolanDa Brown, before a special final round led by Ken Bruce with PopMaster.

Alongside the quiz itself, the broadcast included interactive elements and surprise celebrity appearances from Sam Thompson, Martin Freeman, Sheridan Smith, Billy Ray Cyrus, Akon, Pete Wicks and Olivia Attwood, adding to the scale and energy of the event.

Ant said: “We’re absolutely blown away by the response we’ve had from radio listeners across the UK today. To see so many people come together, have a bit of fun, and support such an important cause is just incredible.”

Dec added: “This record belongs to everyone who took part and we want to thank them all for not only quizzing with us but, more importantly, raising money for Cash for Kids.”

The initiative raised vital funds for Cash for Kids, Bauer Media Audio’s charity which supports children and young people affected by poverty, illness and neglect across the UK.

Managing Director, Sally Aitchison, said: “This has been an extraordinary achievement. Ant and Dec helped set a world record, and they’ve also helped shine a spotlight on the work Cash for Kids do to support disadvantaged children.”

She added that the funds raised would make a real difference, with grant rounds set to open soon to distribute support to those in need.
