Patrick Dempsey pays tribute to Eric Dane during Magic Radio interview

Patrick Dempsey became emotional speaking to Magic Radio as he reflected on the loss of his Grey’s Anatomy co-star Eric Dane.

Speaking to presenter Jo Russell, Patrick admitted he struggled to begin the day following news of Dane’s passing, describing his former colleague as both a talented actor and a close friend.

He told Jo: “I had a very hard time getting started this morning. He always made me laugh, he was so funny, he had a great sense of humour, he was always great to work with, always very professional, really smart.”

Patrick recalled how quickly the pair bonded when Dane joined Grey’s Anatomy after the show’s early success, explaining that Dane had initially been unsure how he would be received by the existing cast.

Reflecting on Dane’s first appearance, Patrick said: “He comes out in his first scene, half-dressed, looking like this Adonis and we had a great time and just laughed about it.”

He added that while Dane’s loss will be deeply felt by colleagues and fans alike, his performances ensure a lasting legacy on screen.

“I will miss him, as will all the fans, but the great thing is we have him in all his glory on the show, so that when you watch it he’s still very much alive,” he said.
