Richard Osman reveals on Radio X Pierce Brosnan book signing blunder

Richard Osman has admitted he accidentally misspelled Pierce Brosnan’s name when signing a copy of his own book for the actor on the set of The Thursday Murder Club.

Speaking on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X this morning, Osman shared the story while discussing the global success of his mystery series, which has sold millions and is now being adapted for film by Steven Spielberg.

Osman explained that while visiting the set, he was distracted by meeting Brosnan and wrote his name incorrectly in a signed copy.

“I signed Pierce’s copy of the book, and I spelled his name wrong. Oh my God, that’s the worst thing you can ever do in the whole world,” he told Moyles.

He went on to reveal that he quickly ran out to buy another copy so he could correct the mistake: “I literally had to go and buy another copy of my own book so I could sign again and say, ‘I’m really sorry I spelt your name wrong.’”

During the conversation, Osman also spoke about visiting the film set and being given his own director’s chair, joking that it kept him distracted while Spielberg and the cast worked.

Moyles praised him for the “phenomenal, juggernaut success” of his books, which are among the UK’s best-selling crime novels of recent years.
