Raye admits new album is unfinished despite pre-order launch

Raye has revealed her next album is still a work in progress, even though it is already available for fans to pre-order.
Speaking on Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby this morning, Raye laughed as she confessed: “Can I be completely honest with you? I’ve announced this album for pre-order, yeah. The album is not even remotely done.”
She explained that although she is putting in the work, she wants to make sure the music flows and feels complete. “With music I want it to be incredible, and I want it to be the best thing it can be. Even how they flow together is everything to me,” she said.
The star also reflected on her role in pushing for better recognition and payment for songwriters, after laws were changed following her campaigning.
“Being that person to always be banging on about this subject it doesn’t always feel amazing… because you’re putting pressure on an industry for change,” she said. “But I’m just so grateful that it’s happening. Even though it’s a small step, it’s really amazing.”
Raye said her father told her that her words had even been shared in Parliament, and added she feels more comfortable as an artist now than ever before. “I love the music I’m sharing too. And yeah, it’s just a really beautiful feeling to feel like this is who I’m supposed to be,” she revealed.
Her as-yet-untitled second album is available to pre-order now, with full details on its release date expected later this year.
