Kate Moss shares Bowie memories on 6 Music and new podcast

Kate Moss appeared on BBC Radio 6 Music’s Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw this morning, speaking about her friendship with David Bowie.
She also discussed her new podcast series, Music Uncovered: David Bowie – Changeling.
The interview was recorded at the David Bowie Centre, V&A East Storehouse in London, which houses more than 90,000 items from the star’s archive.
Kate recalled collecting Bowie’s Brit Award in 2014, her first meeting with him, and her final memories before his death. She also described the moment she wore his Kansai Yamamoto outfit on stage, after Bowie himself had given her approval.
In the podcast, available now on BBC Sounds, Kate delves deeper into Bowie’s life, legacy and cultural impact, blending personal anecdotes with archival insights.
She revealed that the project allowed her to discover new details about him: “I learnt so much, because I never liked reading muso books. This is a shortened version of all of that.”
She also spoke about the unique humour Bowie brought to their friendship, recalling phone calls on her birthday and his sharp but playful remarks.
Reflecting on his creativity, she said: “He definitely had determination. He knew he was going to get there, come hell or high water.”
Kate’s final memory of Bowie was a personal birthday message she recorded for him, singing Mr. Bojangles with a sign reading “Happy Birthday DB,” just before hearing of his passing.
Music Uncovered: David Bowie – Changeling is part of BBC Radio 6 Music’s growing podcast slate and is streaming now on BBC Sounds.
