Chris Moyles announces live Radio X Massive Decade Tour dates

Next week The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X will broadcast live from multiple locations across the UK as part of the Massive Decade Tour, celebrating ten years of the show and Radio X.

The team will visit Alex James’s farm in the Cotswolds, The Turf pub in Wrexham, Leeds, Whitehaven, and Glasgow, giving listeners the chance to win cash each day.

Speaking on air this morning, Chris Moyles said: “We announced we’re going back on the road. It’s our Massive Decade Tour to celebrate ten years of The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X; ten years of Johnny Vaughan’s four ‘til seventh thing gang, ten years of Radio X. We’re going on tour, and we’re going to give you a chance to win up to £10,000 every single day.”

He added a playful sense of suspense: “When we do the Prize Dump Tour, we never know where we’re going apart from the first day, and then it’s always decided by fate.

“This time round, we’ve actually picked where we’re going, and we have spoken to an array of very friendly people, and some that we’re still trying to get hold of.”

The tour kicks off on Monday at Blur bassist Alex James’s farm in the Cotswolds. Moyles said: “Alex’s farm! He’s been very friendly, he’s very excited, having just hosted the Big Feastival with the likes of Travis and Faithless and Nelly Furtado.

“It’s a genuine live farm with animals, because that’s what farms are. It is his big farm in the Cotswolds, and we’ll be there live for day one of our Massive Decade Tour.”

Tuesday sees the team move to The Turf pub in Wrexham, Wales, close to the Wrexham Football Club ground.

Moyles joked about celebrity owners: “Have you heard of Ryan Reynolds, Dom? …He also won’t be on the show. No one from Wrexham Football Club has actually got back to us, so we’ll be doing the show from the pub instead.”

Wednesday brings the team to Moyles’s hometown of Leeds. He said: “It is the birthplace of the steam locomotive, Marks & Spencers, and the birthplace to the greatest living radio broadcaster of a generation. We’re going to Leeds!”

Thursday’s show is in Whitehaven, affectionately renamed “Brownhaven” on air, and Friday concludes in Glasgow, much to the delight of the team’s Scottish alter egos.

Co-host Dominic Byrne added to the excitement: “I am so giddy, I can’t wait!” James Robinson also confirmed the team’s enthusiasm for the full tour.
