Tinie Tempah talks jiu jitsu sparring with actor Tom Hardy

Tinie Tempah popped in for a chat on Hits Radio Breakfast and revealed he’s been sparring with Tom Hardy.
The rapper, entrepreneur, and TV presenter told Fleur East, Will Best and James Barr that he has recently received his purple belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu and that now puts him on a similar competitive level to Tom Hardy, who is known for his love of the sport alongside his film roles.
“I do Brazilian jiu jitsu – I’m a purple belt now,” Tinie explained. “I know him [Tom Hardy] very well. I’ve had the luxury of sparring with Tom a couple of times because basically we go to the same gym and I was fortunate enough to be invited to one of his training camps.”
He went on to share that Hardy’s roles often require the actor to maintain peak physical condition and real combat readiness.
“Most of his roles he’s usually a hard man, very physical guy, so he’s always sparring doing jiu jitsu, boxing – so I was lucky enough to be part of this Netflix camp he did, probably for Havoc,” he said.
Tom Hardy’s upcoming film Havoc, directed by Gareth Evans, is rumoured to be an action-packed crime thriller, and Tinie’s insight hints at just how intense the preparation for such roles can be.
