Johnny Vaughan tests Radio X beer-proof parka for Oasis reunion gigs

Radio X has launched limited edition beer-proof parkas to help fans stay dry during this year’s long-awaited Oasis reunion tour and Johnny Vaughan tested it out!

The idea follows research showing over 2.2 million pints of beer will be thrown in celebration at the sell-out gigs, which is equivalent to one and a half 25-metre swimming pools.

A team of statisticians analysed original research from 2,000 UK adults to estimate that a quarter of the 8.6 million pints bought will end up in the air rather than being drunk.

That adds up to more than £16.5 million worth of beer being lost in celebration.

Radio X Drive presenter Johnny Vaughan tested the new packable parkas outside a London pub, and they are now on sale via the Radio X Store with proceeds going to the station’s charity, Global’s Make Some Noise.

Matt Deverson, Managing Editor at Radio X, said: “When pints start flying, we want to make sure you’re not wearing them. It’s just another way Radio X looks after the most passionate fans and listeners.”

Most fans are happy to get soaked if it means seeing Oasis live again. Seventy-seven percent said they’d watch the band perform in any weather and would stand in a downpour for up to nine hours.

Fans also voted Definitely Maybe as their favourite Oasis album, and 88% would like to hear new music from the Gallaghers in future.
