Ronan Keating signs off from Magic Breakfast for the final time

Ronan Keating said goodbye to listeners this morning as he hosted his last Magic Breakfast show.

He’s presented the show with co-host Harriet Scott for seven years.

Ronan announced he was stepping back from the show in June, saying it had been a difficult decision, but he wants to spend more time concentrating on his music.

During the show he performed his song When You Say Nothing At All and a version of George Michael’s Faith.

He finished by admitting that the reality of leaving was really hitting him now and he couldn’t believe it had lasted seven years, but it had been so much fun.

“It’s all about you now Harriet, so good luck. My padawan, I hope I’ve taught you well,” he joked but added: “You have taught me so much. You’re the radio legend, the DJ legend and I’ve loved every minute that we’ve had. You’ve been amazing and a great mentor to me Harriet.

He continued: “I’ve loved broadcasting the stories from the listeners over the years. I’m not crying, you’re crying.

“It’s been amazing and thank you all so much for listening for the last seven years. I have loved every single morning.”

Thanking his listeners, he told them that it’s been hard to get out of bed early, but they had been worth it. He also said he’ll be around and will come back to say hi every now and then.

Finishing off, Ronan concluded: “Thank you to everybody and thanks to everybody who came out this morning, all these beautiful people who I’ve shared this building with.

“Thank you guys, I’ve loved meeting you in the corridors and hearing your stories and seeing your faces. I will miss you all. Good luck with it all.”

As he finished the show, colleagues from Magic Radio and Bauer sister stations in the building lined the corridors to applaud him as he exited the building.

There’s no word yet as to who will replace Ronan, but for the time being the show will be Harriet and friends at Breakfast with Gok Wan popping for a few days, as will Will Young and then Nick Snaith is doing some cover for the summer holidays.
