Radio 2 to air 50 Years of Paul Gambaccini on UK radio
Paul Gambaccini will look back on his 50 years on UK radio in a special programme presented by Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2.
This comes ahead of Gambo’s brand-new Radio 2 show, The Paul Gambaccini Collection, which launches on Sunday 29 October, 8-10pm.
In the special two hour look back on Paul’s 50 years on UK radio, Steve Wright will be in conversation with him as they discuss memorable moments through Paul’s life and career illustrated by archive radio clips and rarely heard interviews.
The programme will feature special BBC archive material and some of Paul’s extensive own collection, including interviews with Elton John, Kate Bush, Marvin Gaye and Sir Paul McCartney.
Paul’s first venture into UK Radio was at BBC Radio 1, where he presented the US Chart Show for around eighteen years.
He has been a regular on Radio 2, Radio 3 and Radio 4 and has hosted programmes such as America’s Greatest Hits, Kaleidoscope, Counterpoint and Radio 2’s Pick Of The Pops.
Paul was also a founding presenter on Classic FM in 1992 and has worked for various commercial radio stations including Smooth Radio and Greatest Hits Radio.
50 Years Of Paul Gambaccini can be heard on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday 22 October, 8-10pm.
