BBC Radio 2 to air special Steve Wright’s best of guests
Steve Wright on his Good Friday Radio 2 programme will feature highlights from his BBC Sounds show, Tell It To Steve: Best Of Guests.
Tell it to Steve features guests the DJ has spoken to at the BBC, together with newly recorded interviews to update their stories.
Most of the archive recordings, which cover all of Steve’s career across radio and television, haven’t been heard since initially broadcast.
In addition to replaying the archive audio, Steve also introduces, contextualises and shares his memories of chatting with the guests.
The themes of the first three episodes are: They Did Comedy First – people who made their name by making us laugh, before going into other fields of entertainment; They Made It In America – domestic stars who’ve created careers for themselves in the USA; and Number 1 In The 21st Century – artists whose music we’ve bought and streamed so much over the past two decades that they’ve topped the charts.
Guests featured, from 1990 to newly recorded interviews, include Joan Rivers, Leona Lewis, Rihanna, Eddie Izzard, Sarah Millican and Eric Idle, plus extended recordings of Amy Winehouse previewing her second album Back To Black, and Thom and Ed discussing Radiohead’s career back in 2008.
Steve presents Radio 2’s Teatime show tomorrow, Good Friday 7 April, 4-7pm and the show will feature highlights from these first three episodes together with the music.
