Amanda Holden breaks new Guinness World Record for Pancake Day
During Heart Breakfast this morning, Amanda Holden set about breaking a new Guinness World Record.
Because it’s Shrove Tuesday, she attempted to break the record for the fastest time to top 10 pancakes with lemon and sugar.
Guinness World Record Adjudicator Glenn, who was in the studio with Jamie and Amanda, explained: “It has to be the traditional serving of a pancake, so that is lemon juice sprinkled over the pancake, and the sugar obviously sprinkled.”
Amanda responded that it’s just how she and Jamie like them!
Jamie asked what time Amanda had to top these pancakes in.
“Because it’s a brand new Guinness World Record title, we’ve said maximum of 30 seconds, so you have to achieve it in 30 seconds or less,” Glenn answered.
After 2 failed attempts on-air, third time lucky, Amanda Holden broke the new Guinness World Record for the fastest time to top 10 pancakes, completing it in 29.33 seconds!
“Yay! Get in! Get in,” Amanda shouted as she set the record, “Do I get a certificate and everything! Exciting. And do I go in the book Jamie?”
Jamie told her: “I’m not sure if you technically go in the book…oh yes I’ve been told you will go in the book!”
A very happy Amanda said: “I’m going in the book! Finally I’ve made it in there,” and she was left ecstatic as she was presented with her Guinness World Record certificate.
