Dermot O’Leary reveals son’s name to Radio 2 listeners
Dermot O’Leary has revealed to listeners of his BBC Radio 2 show, the name of his son who was born ten days ago.
New dad Dermot was back on air on Saturday for the first time since his wife Dee Koppang gave birth to the boy.
Sharing the name of the song playing during Dee’s labour, Dermot said to his listeners: “My lovely son came into the world ten days ago accompanied by Guy Garvey’s Elbow. So forgive this moment of brief self-indulgence while we play the song that accompanied that.
“So this is for you Kasper with a K – my wife is very insistent on that! Kasper Koppang O’Leary welcome to the world.”
Dermot and Dee, who were married in 2012 after being together for ten years, first announced they were expecting a baby back in February.
The baby was born on 23 June and they revealed the news in an Instagram post with a picture of a white baby onesie together with the caption: “Koppang O’Leary productions Est 2020.”
The accompanying message said: “Welcome to the world baby Koppang O’Leary… We’re delighted to announce that we’ve had a baby!
“A little boy born on Tuesday 23rd June 2020 (Sankthansaften / Midsummer for you Norwegians) at 8.19am, weighing in at 6lb 13oz. Enjoying the cuddles in the newborn bubble… cats yet to be 100% convinced. Lots of love, Dermot & Dee.”
