Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood relive Rolling Stones story on Radio 2
Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood are taking listeners behind the music in a special edition of Tracks of My Years on BBC Radio 2.
The Rolling Stones legends sat down with Vernon Kay for a wide-ranging conversation that explores their lives and careers through ten songs that shaped them.
The programme arrives as The Rolling Stones prepare to release their new album, Foreign Tongues, later this summer.
During the interview, Jagger reflects on the band’s early recording sessions, discovering he was destined to be a frontman, and meeting his hero Muddy Waters in Chicago.
He also discusses how he listens to music today and talks about collaborating with Paul McCartney on the new album.
Jagger explains why it was important for late drummer Charlie Watts to appear posthumously on the record.
Wood, meanwhile, recalls learning guitar by copying riffs from Chuck Berry and shares stories about joining the Stones in the mid-1970s.
He also reveals how his home became a recording base for the band and discusses writing a guitar part inspired by the passing of Brian Wilson.
The special will air on Sunday 31 May at 5am on Radio 2, before becoming available on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer from 6am the same day.
Daily episodes from the interview will also feature in Vernon’s mid-morning show from Monday 1 June to Friday 5 June.
