Leigh-Anne Pinnock breaks down on Capital XTRA ahead of album release

Leigh-Anne Pinnock became emotional on Capital XTRA Breakfast this morning as she reflected on her journey from auditioning for The X Factor to releasing her debut solo album 15 years later.

During the interview with Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie, Pinnock spoke candidly about her younger self and the determination that has carried her through a career in music.

She told the presenters: “I would say: keep that fight, keep that determination. Keep that thing that you have when people try and tell you can’t do something; keep that thing where you just keep saying, ‘Yes, I can,’ and you do it.

“It generally doesn’t matter what anyone says. Like, you have so much fight and belief in yourself, and you’re going to get there and you do it.”

Leigh-Anne also reflected on the personal significance of this era in her life, explaining that the album represents reconnecting with the fire and resilience of her younger self.

“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her and that go-getter thing that she always had. And, yeah, that’s why I wanted to do this era, because I miss her,” she added.

The conversation highlighted both her professional achievements and the personal growth she has experienced, with the presenters praising her resilience and career journey as inspirational.

My Ego Told Me To is set to release tomorrow, marking Leigh-Anne’s first solo project since her time with Little Mix and establishing her independent musical voice.
