Absolute Radio signs major musicians for new Sunday night residencies
Absolute Radio has announced a new series of Sunday night music residencies featuring some of Britain’s best known artists sharing stories behind the songs that shaped their careers.
The monthly residency strand launches on 1 March, with each artist hosting a two hour show every Sunday from 10pm until midnight, before episodes become available on demand via the Rayo app.
First to take the slot is Clint Boon, known for his work with Inspiral Carpets, marking a return to national radio with The Clint Boon Show throughout March.
Boon said: “I’m proper chuffed to be doing a run of Sunday night shows for Absolute Radio in March. I’ll be doing a two-hour show and sharing some of my favourite records of all time with you. It’s a real honour to be joining such a great station.”
Singer songwriter KT Tunstall will take over the residency in April, followed by Felix White in May, Sergio Pizzorno in June and Ricky Wilson in July.
Each artist will curate their own programmes, exploring musical influences, revisiting defining tracks and introducing lesser-known favourites, while working alongside award winning producer Nick Harris to shape the sound of the series.
Paul Sylvester, Content Director for Absolute Radio, said the residency format reflects the station’s long-standing focus on artist led storytelling and specialist music programming.
He said the extended runs allow presenters to share personal passions and influences while offering listeners richer insight into the records they already love.
The new hosts join an established line up of artist broadcasters already heard on the station, including Skin, Tim Burgess and Louise Wener.
