Scott Mills back to Breakfast on Radio 2 with old friend as special guest

Scott Mills returns to BBC Radio 2 on Monday for Breakfast in 2026 and will be sitting down with an old friend for a revealing and nostalgic conversation.

The presenter spent a full hour with Robbie Williams, with the pair reflecting on a friendship that dates back to Scott’s early days in radio, when he was introducing new music from a then little-known boyband called Take That.

Their shared history sees Scott and Robbie swap stories from the early years of their careers, alongside honest reflections on how much has changed since those first encounters.

The conversation comes at a pivotal moment for Robbie, who is preparing to release a new album in February, returning firmly to the spotlight with a Britpop-inspired record and a major chart battle on the horizon.

If the album reaches number one, it will become Robbie’s sixteenth chart-topping album, a milestone that would see him overtake The Beatles’ record for the most number one albums by any act in the UK.

During the interview, Robbie opens up about the pressures that still come with releasing new music, even after decades at the top of the industry, and how expectations can feel just as intense now as they did earlier in his career.

He also talks candidly about balancing life as a global pop star with being a parent, sharing how his priorities have shifted and how family life shapes his approach to touring, recording and performing.

Robbie gives listeners an insight into his pre-show rituals, revealing the routines and habits that help him prepare mentally and emotionally before stepping on stage, even after thousands of live performances.

The discussion also touches on Robbie’s long-standing admiration for Lulu, with the singer speaking warmly about her influence and energy, and why she continues to inspire him as an artist.

One of the most emotional moments of the interview comes as Robbie talks to Scott about his father, who is living with Parkinson’s, and what it meant to have him attend one of his recent gigs.

Part one of the interview is now available on BBC Radio 2’s YouTube channel and you can listen to it all as Robbie spends a full hour with Scott this Monday 12 January, 6:30am – 9:30am on BBC Radio 2.
