Josh Baker, Silva Bumpa and Paige Cavell appear on Capital Dance

Josh Baker, Silva Bumpa and Paige Cavell have been reflecting on the changing UK dance scene after joining Mistajam on Capital Dance.

The trio appeared on the show to talk about their new collaboration Feel That Way, as well as their individual journeys, ambitions and how the dance landscape has shifted over the past decade.

Speaking about the wider scene, Josh Baker said the level of opportunity now available would have been hard to imagine when he first started producing music.

He explained that ten years ago the UK dance world felt more divided, with artists working in separate spaces and rarely crossing over.

He told Mistajam that the current sense of community has helped raise standards across the board, with artists constantly pushing each other creatively.

Baker said it now feels like every week brings releases that would once have been considered chart-toppers, adding that the pace keeps him motivated to keep evolving his sound.

Looking back, Baker said he never imagined what has happened would be possible at all, describing the scene as being on a “crazy run” with new doors opening that he had never previously considered.

While he always believed he could reach a certain level, he admitted the scale of what is now achievable has gone far beyond his expectations.

Mistajam praised all three artists for raising the bar with their releases, highlighting the quality and consistency coming out of the scene right now.

The conversation positioned Feel That Way as part of a wider moment for UK dance music, where collaboration and crossover are increasingly central.

Paige Cavell also used the interview to speak candidly about her personal ambitions. Asked what she has enjoyed most about releasing music, she said creative freedom has been key, allowing her to explore different sides of her artistry.

Cavell revealed that her long-term aim is to establish herself as a solo artist, saying that while collaborations remain important, focusing on her own identity is now a priority.

She explained that persistence is essential in the industry, adding that continuing to push forward creatively is the only way to reach that goal.

She said she plans to keep challenging herself, balancing more collaborations with a sharper focus on solo material. Cavell added that she feels optimistic about what lies ahead, saying she has “a good feeling about this year” as she looks to build momentum.

While Silva Bumpa kept a lower profile in the conversation, the collaboration itself was framed as a natural meeting of complementary styles, reflecting the more open and interconnected scene Baker described.

Together, the three artists positioned Feel That Way as a product of shared energy rather than separate creative lanes.

The Capital Dance appearance offered a snapshot of a scene in transition, shaped by collaboration, confidence and a new generation of artists who see far fewer limits than those who came before them.
