Myles Smith says working with Ed Sheeran and Alex Warren inspires him

Singer-songwriter Myles Smith joined Jimmy Hill on the Capital Evening Show last night to talk about his new single Stay (If You Wanna Dance) and the friends who inspire him most.

Speaking on air, Myles praised Ed Sheeran and Alex Warren, calling the pair “incredibly humble” and saying that spending time with them “inspires him every day”.

“Ed I’ve known for the last couple of years and Alex probably the same,” he said. “They’re just both incredible guys. Incredibly humble and they really love what they do. They work hard at it, and I just love being in their company and being human with them. It just inspires me every day.”

The Perfection singer also opened up about how his latest track came together faster than expected.

“Yeah, this one was probably too quick for my label’s liking,” he laughed. “I wrote it and put it on social media fairly soon after, so we had to figure out a release date and finish the song because it was already out there. From conception to being out was about three weeks!”

Myles revealed the song was created in Sweden with songwriter Mikky Ekko, best known for penning Rihanna’s 2013 hit Stay.

“It came from us talking about wanting to write another Stay,” he said. “Whether it’ll be as big as that, probably not! But we had a good crack at it.”
