Lewis Capaldi says he’s making happy music and wants Taylor Swift invite

Lewis Capaldi joined Scott Mills on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show today, where he opened up about making new music, using dating apps again, and an awkward run-in with F1’s Martin Brundle.
The singer revealed that he’s working on his next album and this time, it’s going to be “happy, happy stuff.”
Capaldi, known for his emotional ballads, told Scott that he’s focusing on upbeat songs for the new record, saying, “Maybe there’ll be one sad one, but I’m giving people what they want.”
He also spoke about his return to dating apps, admitting he’s “on the apps” but doesn’t swipe as much as he used to. “I just want to be left alone,” he laughed, saying he’s taking a more relaxed approach to dating these days.
Lewis reminisced about attending Taylor Swift’s 30th birthday party back in 2019, joking that he’d love an evening invite to her wedding, and that his fishmonger dad could provide the freshest fish for the big day! “Taylor, if you’re out there, please send me some bread,” he added with a grin.
The Forget Me star also reflected on his 2025 Glastonbury performance, calling it “probably the best day of my life,” and saying he’s enjoyed focusing more on music than comedy between songs.
And in true Capaldi style, he ended with a laugh, recalling how F1 presenter Martin Brundle once mistook his brother for him before blanking his high-five on live TV. “He absolutely blanked me,” Lewis said. “Thank you, Brundle – blanked by Brundle!”
