Even more from Taylor Swift – this time with Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2

As Taylor Swift mania continues following her appearances on four breakfast shows on Friday and Radio 1 later this morning, she will also be on Radio 2’s Breakfast Show on Monday.
On The Scott Mills Breakfast Show, she talks about her new album The Life of a Showgirl, her relationship with Travis Kelce, and the realities of fame, friendship, and baking bread.
The world’s biggest shared how the record came together during The Eras Tour: “I wrote most of this while I was on that tour,” she said. “I’d go from three shows in a stadium, fly to Sweden, fly back to the tour, fly to Sweden.
“It sounds like an impossible feat, but I kind of needed to get back into that creative space, and that fuelled me past physical exhaustion.”
She described the album as “glitzy, fun and full of energy,” capturing the spirit of performance and self-expression.
Taylor revealed that she kept the album a complete secret, even from her label: “My friends don’t rat,” she laughed. “They’d all heard the music a year ago. They know what’s going on. They do not snitch. It’s phenomenal.”
She explained that she enjoys surprising her fans and even builds hidden details into her work: “If you line up all the song titles, it makes the shape of The Eras Tour stage,” she added proudly.
When asked about her wedding plans, Taylor said she’s taking things one step at a time: “Right now I’m just really stoked about the idea that I get to marry this person,” she told Mills. “I’m gonna think about that, then put out this album, and then think about other things after that.”
She laughed off fan speculation that she might be retiring, calling it “a shockingly offensive thing to say.”
Speaking about Travis Kelce, Taylor said their relationship works because of shared passion and respect: “He loves what I do and how much I’m fulfilled by it. We both perform for three and a half hours in NFL stadiums – for me, it’s a show, for him, it’s a game. It’s very similar.”
Away from the spotlight, Taylor talked about her love of baking, recently gifting Mills a homemade blueberry lemon sourdough loaf.
“I love baking and cooking. There are so many health benefits to sourdough. I just have to stop talking about bread once I start,” she laughed.
Taylor also spoke about what really matters to her these days: “The longer I’m alive, the smaller the list gets of things that really matter,” she said. “It’s my family, my relationship, my friends, my art, baking, and my cats.”
Asked if she’d ever travel to space, she gave a firm answer: “Never. Why would I do that? It’s cold, it’s scary, I don’t want to go. There’s no reason to do that.”
