Ed Sheeran reveals ski mask trick on Capital Breakfast

Ed Sheeran joined Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby this morning to talk about his new album Play! and surprised listeners with a few unexpected admissions.
The singer revealed that he always carries a ski mask so he can travel around in public without being recognised.
“Yeah, ski mask, hoodie up, go in and get my food and no one really notices,” he explained, adding that since COVID, masks have become “sort of socially acceptable”. He joked that the disguise even lets him get back on tubes and trains, although he admitted it can look intimidating.
Sheeran shared a story about bumping into Elton John’s husband David Furnish while wearing the mask and jacket, saying: “I went to go say hi to him and he turned to me as if he was going to punch me and I was like ‘no, no, no!’”
Later in the chat, the star reflected on how growing up ginger shaped his career. He said: “When I was a kid it was weird being at school and having red hair.
“It seemed like a real issue and then as soon as I left school no one cared. But I think it definitely put a chip on my shoulder, and I think that chip still exists.”
He added: “I think if I was a super conventionally attractive blonde bloke then I probably wouldn’t have had the success that I’ve had.”
