Capital’s Kem Cetinay tackles huge 24 hour padel charity marathon

Capital Weekender host Kem Cetinay is to take on one of his toughest challenges yet; a full 24 hours of padel on 9 October in support of Global’s Make Some Noise.

The former Love Island star and popular Capital presenter will swap late-night anthems for sweatbands and a racket in an exhausting day-long marathon, streamed live on Capital and Global Player. Listeners will be able to watch and cheer Kem on through every rally as he battles through the hours.

He will not be alone on court, with celebrity friends, Capital presenters and surprise guests joining him as rotating opponents to keep the game alive. Their support will help Kem raise vital funds for a cause close to the station’s heart.

Padel, a sport that fuses elements of tennis and squash, is quickly becoming one of the UK’s most talked-about pastimes.

While a typical game takes about an hour, Kem’s endurance test will see him stretch the game into an all-day and all-night event, testing his physical strength and mental determination.

Speaking about the challenge, Kem said: “I love padel and I’ve played some long games before, but nothing like this.

“Twenty four hours on the padel court is going to be brutal. No doubt my arms and legs will be aching, but I’m so ready to push myself to the absolute limit.

“If it means raising money for the incredible projects that Global’s Make Some Noise supports, then every rally, every hour, and every blister will be completely worth it.”

Make Some Noise funds small charities across the UK that provide essential support for people facing mental health struggles, poverty, homelessness and loneliness.

Suzanne Ryder-Richardson, Director, Global Goodness, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Kem for taking on this huge challenge. Every pound donated can help provide a lifeline to those who need it most. Kem, we will be cheering you on every rally of the way.”

Kem’s 24-hour match begins during Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby on 9 October, ending at the same time the following morning.
