Sam Thompson’s confession to Jamie Lee Curtis on Hits Radio Breakfast
Hits Radio’s Saturday morning presenter Sam Thompson is hosting the Breakfast show this week while regular hosts Fleur East, Will Best and James Barr take a summer break.
His first morning in the role included a lively on-air conversation with Hollywood legend Jamie Lee Curtis, during which Sam confessed to a white lie from their very first meeting.
That earlier encounter happened on his debut radio show, when he’d asked her about ‘pre-drinks’ without realising she was sober.
Jamie Lee told him then that she no longer drank, prompting Sam to reply that he didn’t either, claiming it was to support his then-girlfriend, TV presenter Zara McDermott.
Speaking live this week, he admitted that wasn’t true and that panic had got the better of him at the time.
In that same conversation years ago, Jamie Lee advised him to “put a ring on it,” referring to Zara. Sam hinted on air that he had news on that subject too, though stopped short of revealing the details.
