Wynne Evans announces he’s not returning to BBC Radio Wales

Wynne Evans has revealed he won’t be returning to his long-running BBC Radio Wales show because the BBC has decided not to renew his contract.
Evans, who made the announcement in a video posted to Instagram, has been off air since earlier this year, following headlines surrounding the Strictly Come Dancing live tour.
He joined BBC Radio Wales in 2016, fronting the weekday mid-morning programme. His departure brings to an end nearly a decade on the station.
Thanking listeners for their support over the last few months, he said: “Now, because you’ve given me so much. I need to tell you this first and honestly and it absolutely breaks my heart to say that the BBC has decided not to renew my contract, so I won’t be returning to my radio show.
“I’m absolutely gutted if I’m honest because the show well, it wasn’t just work, it was home. It was where we laughed, where we cried, where we sang like nobody was really listening to us and somehow that got through the airwaves, and we became a family.”
He also announced his “next adventure”, that The Wynne Evans Show is coming back, live every day from 9am–12pm on a new radio station he’s launching on an app, and on Alexa and Google.
Teasing a little more about the new station, he added: “I’m bringing more presenters soon and I am sure you’ll recognise a few of the faces.”
