Sophie Habboo joins Jamie Laing on Radio 1 and GK Barry hosts weekends

Sophie Habboo is heading to BBC Radio 1 and she’s doing it alongside her husband Jamie Laing.

From Monday 2 June, Sophie will co-host Going Home with Jamie every Monday to Wednesday, covering for Vick Hope while she takes maternity leave.

It’s a big moment for the couple and the station, as they’re the first husband and wife to present a show together on Radio 1.

Best known for their hit podcast NewlyWeds, Sophie and Jamie are no strangers to working together, they hosted the BRIT Awards 2025 red carpet earlier this year. Now, they’re bringing their real-life chemistry to weekday drivetime.

“I’m thrilled to finally announce I’ll be joining the Radio 1 family for the next few weeks,” Sophie said. “Radio has such a special way of connecting people, and I’m honoured to be stepping in for Vick. Presenting alongside my husband will be fun and probably a bit chaotic in the best way!”

Meanwhile, Radio 1 has also revealed that social media star and Saving Grace podcaster GK Barry will front weekend afternoons throughout July, starting Friday 4 July. She’ll be joined by a rotating line-up of guest co-hosts on the show.

“I’m so excited to be presenting my own show on Radio 1,” said Grace. “I can’t wait to bring everyone into my world for a few hours every weekend!”

Once Sophie’s run wraps up, fan favourites Sam and Danni will join Jamie from Monday 23 June, continuing the Going Home summer shake-up.

Radio 1 boss Aled Haydn Jones called it “a brilliant summer line-up full of energy, laughs and great music”.
